How I Stopped The Barking With Bark Off
When I first saw that commercial on TV advertising Bark Off, I wondered if it could really work or was it just hype found on infomercial. On the other hand, if you have a dog that constantly barks then you all know that if Bark Off worked as they say it can, that would be awesome! After repeatedly seeing Bark Off on TV and reading some positive reviews from the official Bark off Site, I gave in and ordered it – I was just tired of my dogs constant barking.
I live in a condo with a common wall and my neighbors were getting on my case as my dog barked night and day. When I bought Bark Off I got the 2 for 1 deal, this was really neat as I can use one in the house and take the other Bark off with me when we go for walks. My dog has a problem with anything that moves or makes lound noises, kids, doorbell, other dogs, skateboards etc. She is not aggressive but you name it and she barks!
I DO want her to bark but only when needed, like for protection of our home and property. It’s the barking for no reason that really becomes annoying and that’s where Bark Off has been a lifesaver. I can turn my Bark Off on anytime I like and train her to bark when I want, not when she wants. They claimed that Bark Off stops unnecessary barking immediately. I was not sure if that was true but now as a Bark Off owner I’m a believer, it really works. I know the Bark Off Device uses an ultrasonic wave that humans cannot hear which does not harm my dog in any way. It is really seamless and I use it with a command word to train my dog not bark. I use the Bark Off and tell her “quiet” at the same time.
Normally she barks and goes bananas when the doorbell rings, so this was our first real test. I turned the Bark Off device on and was amazed when my friend came over and she wagged her tail but did not bark at all! This is what sold me, I’m trying to make a Youtube video to demonstrate how well it worked for me. Everyone seems more relaxed now since we started using Bark Off, I don’t have to scold her constantly. Needless to say, I highly recommend giving Bark Off a try to silence the barking!
I received an email from a blog user who was kind enough to write his own little Bark Off review, I think you will enjoy it:)
Steves Bark Off Review
Nothing bugs me more after a long day at the office than hearing my neighbor’s dog yelping when I am enjoying a cold beer while watching Monday night football or Anderson Cooper. They say that dogs are a man’s best friend and I know this sounds corny, but I think Bark Off is my new best friend! I was so happy with the way that Bark Off worked that I was determined to test it during our summer vacation when I went to visit my mother-in-law in early August. She lives in the suburbs and the guy next door is a jerk with two mean Rottweillers. These dogs bark at anything and he leaves them in the yard at night.
The first night of our vacation, we went out to dinner and you all know how enjoyable it is to hit the pillow after a large meal and a few cocktails. Well, as my wife and I dozed off, these rabid creatures found something t o bark at. It went on for ten minutes. Finally, I had enough, and remembered that I had brought my Bark Off even though we left our dog in the kennels for our vacation. To my amazement, Bark Off worked instantly to shut up these nuisances next door.
Keeping burglars at bay! There are times when we want our dogs to bark. I wanted to assure you that using Bark Off will not stop your dog from barking when they should. We all know you don’t want your dog to bark when the mail carrier drops the mail off, but I sure want my dog to bark if a burglar is trying to jimmy my front door open at 3AM in the morning. Bark Off only works when you activate it. It is small enough to leave next to your remote while watching TV and don’t forget to bring it into your bedroom at night so that you can activate it once you are sure your dog has not just alerted you to a burglar and just wants to be heard.
When I was in university, I took two psychology courses and learned all about Pavlov and his dogs. In a prior post, I suggested how you could wean your dog off the device and it’s so easy to do. As Pavlov so clearly demonstrated, you can make a dog associate one behavior with another behavior by making the association for them. If you use Bark Off with a key training word (such as STOP!) your dog will associate the high pitched noise with the word “STOP”. Whenever your dog hears you say “STOP” in the same firm tone as you originally associated with the Bark Off pitch, he or she will associate the word “STOP with the action of stopping barking and you can eventually stop using.
