Turn Off the Barks with Bark Off

Woof. Yip. Bark! These are all noises that dogs naturally make, and that we as humans appreciate if we have just come home from work and are being greeted, or if a burglar is breaking into the house at 1am. Just sitting there leisurely on the couch and trying to unwind after a long day can be rather difficult, however, with a dog that just continues to bark, Bark, BARK until you can’t stand it any more can be frustrating. Bark Off to the rescue!

Growing up next to a home with a yipping Chihuahua, the owners could be heard first yelling at the dog to shush, to be quiet, to “shut up” and they even began to try and shake some metal can at the dog that was filled with some sort of pellets to distract him from barking. Did it work? Absolutely not! He barked until his very last days. I only wish that Bark Off was invented then!

Now years later I found myself with the same problem with our own dog, “Buddy”. Excitement, anxiety, other dogs – no matter what it was, it seemed I couldn’t get him to stop barking! I tried training, I tried special anti-bark collars, I tried yelling and screaming. Before almost taking the drastic measure of cutting his vocal chords to stop that barking permanently, I decided to try Bark Off.

Admittedly, you can see the bark off product on an infomercial, which may cause some suspicion in some people who have been cheated by shoddy “infomercial products” before. After reading some positive reviews online about Bark Off, I decided it was certainly worth it, given that I had tried everything else and the minimal cost.

Before I Tried Bark Off I Wanted To Make Sure It Was Safe

Most importantly to all of us pet lovers out there is the fact that Bark Off is 100% painless. No human or animal is hurt by using this product. Bark Off works very much the same way as a dog whistle does, except it requires no human to actually operate it. Bark off has a sensor that, when it hears what it defines as a “bark”, it will then emit a signal at a far higher frequency that we as humans cannot detect, but dogs can. Bark off’s high pitched signal is so seldom heard by our pets that when they do actually hear it, it will stop them dead in their tracks and completely interrupt what ever behavior they are performing, including barking.

Another benefit to bark off is that it is small and portable, meaning you can take it absolutely any where. Not only can you use Bark Off within your own home (say, by the front door to stop that barking when the postman comes by with your mail) but you can use it outside, in your car, or even on walks!  If there is at any point a time in which you don’t want Bark Off used and it is close to both you and your dog, you can simply turn it off.

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Bark Off Device

Bark off on its own works seamlessly, but if you ever want to wean your dog off the device, that’s very easy to do. I learned this trick from one of the dog trainers I saw on TV. If you use Bark Off with a key training word (such as QUIET!) the dog will associate the high pitched noise with the word “quiet”. When ever your dog hears you say “quiet”, he or she will eventually learn to stop barking without the need for the bark off device.

I must leave you a note and say, Bark Off is the best thing since sliced bread. I live in a very small seniors complex and the couple next door has these very loud poodles. It seems they never stop barking and no matter who I complained to it did not do any good. I ordered the Bark Off from TV and I have them placed on either side of my back terrace. Whenever the dogs come out and make a fuss, I quietly turn on my Bark Off’s and they STOP BARKING! It really settles them down fast – I just love it.

I am amazed at how bark off really stops the barking. Our condo association allows small pets. My dog barks, but my next door neighbour’s dog is so whiny! With bark off, I am silencing two dogs with one device.

I think the fact that we have wooden walls helps, so not sure if this would work in concrete condos, but I am relieved at the reduced unwanted barking.

[...] I first saw that commercial on TV advertising Bark Off, I wondered if it could really work or was it just hype found on infomercial. On the other hand, if [...]
