Woof. Yip. Bark! These are all noises that dogs naturally make, and that we as humans appreciate if we have just come home from work and are being greeted, or if a burglar is breaking into the house at 1am. Just sitting there leisurely on the couch and trying to unwind after a long day can be rather difficult, however, with a dog that just continues to bark, Bark, BARK until you can’t stand it any more can be frustrating. Bark Off to the rescue!

Growing up next to a home with a yipping Chihuahua, the owners could be heard first yelling at the dog to shush, to be quiet, to “shut up” and they even began to try and shake some metal can at the dog that was filled with some sort of pellets to distract him from barking. Did it work? Absolutely not! He barked until his very last days. Now years later I found myself with the same problem with our own dog, “Buddy”. Excitement, anxiety, other dogs – no matter what it was, it seemed I couldn’t get him to stop barking! How To Get The Most Out Of Your Bark Off Device

Bark off on its own works seamlessly, but if you ever want to wean your dog off the device, that’s very easy to do. I learned this trick from one of the dog trainers I saw on TV. If you use Bark Off with a key training word (such as QUIET!) the dog will associate the high pitched noise with the word “quiet”. When ever your dog hears you say “quiet”, he or she will eventually learn to stop barking without the need for the bark off device.

What is Bark Off?

The Bark Off device is a small device that can be placed both inside and outside of your home. If your dog goes into one of his or her barking tirades and he or she is within the range of the Bark Off, an ultrasonic signal (which is at a frequency that dogs can hear but humans cannot) is emitted, which then interrupts your dog’s barking and puts a stop to it immediately. Unlike the shock collar option or the cutting of your canine’s vocal cords, the ultrasonic signal does not harm your pet in any way. It does not hurt them or alter their behavior in a negative way.

Does Bark Off Work?

As with any product Bark Off may not work with every dog out there. Both old and young dogs can be trained with the Bark Off anti-bark system, but if your pet has a hearing impairment of any kind which may disable the effectiveness of bark offs ultrasonic sound waves, it may not work.

Dogs with severe anxiety disorders may not be trainable on Bark Off alone. The best way to use this product is as a tool in training and not as a sole solution. Talk to some dog trainers or other dog owners for tips and tricks on how to further discourage your dog’s barking habit.
